We previously discussed California Senate Bill 553 which proposed to create a state WOTC. On May 20 that bill was held in the Senate Appropriations Committee and is unlikely to progress.

The New York legislature has passed Senate Bill S2802 which requires the New York Department of Labor to publish statistical information about the use of WOTC with NY. If approved by the governor, the DOL would publish information about the employer, starting wage, target group, and job position as reported by employers. This is all information which is normally submitted in the course of WOTC certification requests.
