January 15, 2021 – President-elect Biden has released what he calls an, “American Rescue Plan,” proposing a new $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill. The plan calls for additional direct payment checks, extending unemployment benefits, raising the minimum wage, and funding for local governments, among other things.

While the 19-page policy document calls for an expansion of the emergency paid leave originally included in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), there are currently no further proposals dealing with hiring or employment incentives.

The new administration is aiming to pass this legislation by the end of February.
